How to get there?
Siargao is a lot easier to get to these days, when we started running trips back in 2013 it was a real mission just getting to the island, but there are now a few options which we’ve broken down below. There are a range of routes but for most of them, in order to land on the island on Monday 18th November you’ll need to depart the UK on Saturday 16th, then departing the island on Thursday 28th will land you back home in the UK Saturday 30th:
International Leg
OPTION 1 - Flight to Cebu Mactan (CEB)
This would be our recommended route, it’s the one we usually take. It usually involves a brief stopover en-route but all you’ll have to do is hop off the plane, stretch your legs and re-board. By flying directly to Cebu you cut down on the internal flights you need to take with domestic airlines.
OPTION 2 - Flight to Manila (MNL)
There are lots of airlines that fly to Manila from all over Europe, if you’re planning on bringing your own board then make sure you check airline restrictions prior to making a booking.
If you need any advice booking your flights then get in touch and we’ll help wherever we can. We would always recommend booking through a bona-fide agent with ATOL and ABTA protections and ensure that you have travel insurance in-place before making any booking.
Domestic Leg
FROM CEBU
OPTION 1 - Flight to Siargao (IAO)
The easiest way to get to Siargao is with a hopper flight from Cebu (CEB) to Siargao (IAO) with an airline called Philippine Airlines. Multiple options each day so you should find one that fits with your international arrival date. There is another airline called Cebu Pacific which flies this route, however they’re known to be less reliable and very sneaky with extra fees for things like overweight baggage or selecting the wrong options online so proceed with caution.
OPTION 2 - Flight to Surigao (SUR) & Ferry to Siargao
The flight from Cebu to Surigao is fairly short (1 hour), it’s only a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport to the ferry port. Ferry from Surigao to Dapa in Siargao takes 2-4 hours depending on the boat that you get, and leaves late morning. The ticket system and ferry port is pretty chaotic so we’d only recommend this option if you’re a seasoned traveller and used to situations like that! The ferry takes an absolutely stunning route though so it’s worth the hassle to get some incredible memories!
FROM MANILA
Flights leave Manila directly to Siargao (IAO) every day. Depending on the timings of your international flight then you may need to stay overnight in Manila prior to flying to the island the next day, however there are a lot of hotels in all price ranges very close to the airport.
As with anything on this trip, if you need a hand booking just give us a shout!

As a beginner I was taken to manageable waves and really felt stronger by the end of the trip!
On top of that, the island was, put simply, paradise. Best trip ever.
